Info

We were asked to have this information on our blogs! See the info below...

Late Start for Students
On Wednesday, February 18, District Two will hold a planned late-start day for students in order to offer teacher professional develop-ment in the morning. The same procedure will be followed as when there is a two-hour weather delay, except that schools will provide student supervision for parents who need to drop off their children at the usual time: Buses will run two hours later in the morning, 4K morning classes and pre-K special education morning classes will not meet, and school breakfast will not be served. The school day will end at the usual time. We appreciate your support as we utilize this prime time to focus on teacher techniques and train-ing that will boost the effectiveness of District Two’s EXCEL personalized digital learning initiative, with the goal of maximizing the return on investment for each student.

School Check-in

The new system is finally up and running after a bad scanner was replaced. Please run in your newsletters that all parents will need their ID to check-in to the school. This includes lunch visits. We will not require this for big events like awards day or parties.

Holiday pictures

Holiday pictures are Friday. Just a note- Santa will not be in the pictures. If you have any questions please feel free to email :)

Pilgrims and Indians

We have been really digging deep each day and learning so much about the pilgrims, Indians, and the first Thanksgiving.

Ask your child these questions at home. They should know the answer! :)
1. Why did the pilgrims leave England?
2. What was the name of the ship they rode on?
3. What was the first winter like?

Below are a few pictures of what we've been working on. The kids have been working so hard on becoming more independent while sounding out words as they are writing.

Building our reading stamina!!!

Since the 3rd day of school we have been working on building our reading stamina. Our goal is to read independently for 15 min. The first day we started at 30sec (which I totally expected ) and boy have we grown since then :) I made mini goals for the kids....5min...10min...and 15min... We have already reached the 5 min. goal and the kids reward was a cup of icecream. This past week they reached 10mins so today we had our lollipops as a treat and 5min. extra recess. We are working towards that big 15 MINUTES :)  Happy Friday everyone!!

Exciting news to share!

Parents,

I wanted to share some news with you. I am expecting a sweet baby due in mid March. I already have a precious little one, Millie who is 8 months old so I will certainly have my hands full but I'm super excited!

Lots of fun this week!

This week we worked on our pete the cat art and writing project. The kids loved listening to the story on the promethean board "I love my white shoes." The sang along each day and then they made their own!

I also introduced our writers workshop journal this week. We will be writing in these journals everyday and at the end of the year the students will bring these home. It's so awesome to see their progression throughout the year. (the pictures wouldn't cooperate and turn the right way!)

Good Morning! Welcome 2nd week of school :)

Good morning! It is my hope that you and your little ones had a restful weekend. I know by Friday most of the class was dragging along. I understand this is a hard transition from summer and this week will be even more of a transition as we really get into our schedule and learning more :) I hope, last week, you heard all about the fun get to know you games we played as well as the fun activities we did. I have attached a picture of the straw name activity we completed last week.
